Description
Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest furniture retailer- Bringing It All Back Home.

1919- It was the end of the First World War and families were reuniting and creating new homes ad Cohen’s opening its first General Store in the town of Windsor. The principle then as now, was to offer the best and the widest selection of goods at the best prices possible to help create the ideal family home.

1925- Cohen’s started to grow and opened new stores, one on Bell Island and the other in Corner Brook. A private bus service was created in Windsor to serve as a home-to-store convenience for its growing family of customers. Cohen’s modern day direct-to-store contact is through its website and through in-store information centers.

1946- To better serve its customer Cohen’s moved into furniture, creating more space at its original Windsor store. Always on the lookout for new products, styles and value, Cohen’s is dedicated to satisfying customer’s wants and needs, and this drive for innovation is what keeps the company on the leading edge today.

1953- ‘Buying in Bulk’ became Cohen’s new way of getting the best products at the best prices to all its customers in Newfoundland and Labrador. Furniture from across Canada and from the United States was imported in railroad cars, a unique and cost saving way of serving cost conscious shoppers. Today we source products world-wide providing lower prices and more choice, a Cohen’s policy that continues to inspire our way of doing business.

1956- Downtown Grand Falls became the next community to welcome the fast growing group of Cohen’s family-friendly stores. Cohen’s customer-winning reputation of quality products, coupled with best value prices, continues to place the company as the first choice for all home furnishings, all over the province.

1985- Cohen’s, the local favourite, became truly province-wide when Charles R. Bell Ltd., bought and expanded the chain to cover all of Newfoundland and Labrador. The long-term goal of creating a ‘One-Stop’ shopping experience becomes a reality. Furniture, Appliances, Flooring, Electronics, and Bedding combined with Delivery, Installation and Deferred Payment Plans were all now part of Cohen’s ambition to satisfy every home-lover’s, dream-home desires.

Today- Cohen’s stands unrivalled as the only Home Furnishings store in the Province that brings you “Everything for Your Home”, all under one roof. There are Cohen’s Home Furnishings stores in many towns and communities in Newfoundland and Labrador. For almost a century Cohen’s has been successfully bringing it all back home, providing what home owner's love best…More Choice, Great Value and Superior Service.
